Learning about Batik painting

We have been learning how to do batik painting in our "Express Yourself" Unit of Study. We have looked closely at the work of Sarkasi Said, a Singaporean batik painter.

Last week, we were lucky enough to have some other batik painters here in our school for Asian Arts and Culture Week. Some parents had a lesson in batik painting, that we listened in on.

On Friday, we saw a community batik painting being prepared. We watched the experts at work, and asked LOTS of questions. Some of us were even lucky enough to do some painting on this piece, as well!

We look forward to showing you our own batik paintings at the Arts Festival next week!
